I
am a Breast Cancer Survivor.
At
the age of 38, I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and my life was
suddenly turned upside down. I had four children; two nine-year-old
twins and two teenagers. My husband and our children felt completely
devastated.
I
was fortunate to have excellent medical attention from the University
of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia. The cancer was
entirely removed.
My
breast cancer journey continued with a mastectomy. During this
difficult recuperation time, I remained strong with the love and
support of my husband and children. At the end of my recovery, I was
filled with joy and grateful to be alive. I made the decision to
undergo reconstructive surgery in order to restore my physical self to
this same level.
Everyday
of my life, I am thankful that God has allowed me to raise my
children, celebrate birthdays, attend college graduations and spend
time with my ten grandchildren. Living cancer free, I now spend plenty of time with my husband and family. I feel
like a miracle MOM. It has been twenty wonderful years living
cancer-free.
I
want every woman that learns that she has breast cancer to have the
chance to live cancer-free. To achieve this goal, I am donating
proceeds from the sale of each beautiful Noah's Ark cookie mold to
Susan
G. Komen for the Cure Richmond. I am also donating $2.00 to Stand Up 2 Cancer.
I
hope you will join me with your help today, so that together we can find a cure tomorrow.
Sincerely,
